Joshua gets a haircut

So here is the hippee boy formally known as
"Hairman".
This is his before photo...
I know it was scary!
Here is "Hairman", no longer a hippee,
he is now called "Mahana".

So much cuter!

Back to school... end of semester!!

So the kids all went back to school for about 2 weeks...
til the semester ended yesterday. On Thursday Tiffany
had a solo at the choir concert and I decided
to post it so all could enjoy.
Tiffany really has an amazing talent.
She, and her brother, Josh have their state choir
auditions on Wed. So I'll keep ya posted!

Christmas 08

So here is the Christmas post... We had 8 Christmas trees
in the house this year. I know what you're thinking...8 trees?
It truly was amazing to behold my house.
I don't think its ever felt as magical.
I mean... sure it was alot of work
but seeing my children's faces was worth the
3 days it took to put everything up.

This was another favorite part...
my Great Grandmother's Christmas ornaments.
Grandma Irene made all these ornaments
out of her antique peices of jewlery. I hung them
over my hutch that my Mom (and my Dad) gave me with
her Christmas china and all her crystal that
she received from her side of the family.
My daughter's and I had really
special time looking at this every day.

The girls and I had tons of fun playing dress-up the table for
Christmas dinner. Why do girls (women) love to do this so much?
Any how these pictures are just for you Mom!!
And yes Dad, that is a huge prime rib cooked to perfection,
you should have had some... YUM-O

So this Christmas we decided to cut back, probably like most
Americans. We exchanged gifts but I'd have to say
that, unanimously, the best presents were the ones
that were acts of service for eachother.
Some chose to do acts of time, some an actual
service... but all of these "gifts of the heart"
were better than the store bought.
I think this will be a new Hedges family tradition.
We hope you all enjoyed your holidays as much as
we did and had tons of fun!

Grandma's cake...

So there are alot of questions about this amazing fruitcake...
well here it is.I could win prizes with this one.
The best part is it tastes as good as it looks!!
I hope this quiets all you skeptics ; )

The Pink Punks - The 12 Days of Christmas

video

This is especially for Grandma & Grandpa...

we hope you have as much fun with this as we did

making it for you!! Don't laugh too hard though...

at your ages you'd end up in the hospital!

Even more pictures from Utah...

Me and my favorite girls... Liz, Bri, & Tif
Father and son. Josh can't wait to be taller than his Dad.

The 4 best blessings in the world.

It's hard to believe it's been alomost 19 years that our family
started with Alan and I. The children have grown so fast...
I feel like I blinked and now their almost grown.
I'm so glad that we finally made this trip... it's the last
Christmas that we'll all be here at home together so
this was a special way to spend it.

More Pictures

Here are some pictures from around Temple Square
in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The grounds are absolutely gorgeous with all the lights, the
nativity is life size marble statues.
This is a trip that I've wanted to make since I was @ 11 years old.
Words can't describe the excitement.

Some pictures...

Can ya feel the excitement!!
This was at a rest stop just outside of Wendover on our way to the First Presidency Christmas Devotional on 12-6-08

So its been awhile...

We've been a busy family as of late... the kids really keep us hopping. Tiffany is busy preparing to graduate and anxiously waiting for the college acceptance letters to get here, and applying for a job at the local nursing home, all while being in the school play, being a state oficer in HOSA and being a part of the regional choir 3 years in a row and getting ready for the state choir auditions.

Liz is also in the play and is starting violin lessons. She's taking a Chinese class in school and the teacher said she's above average in her ability with the language.

Josh has been busy with varsity wrestling and with choir. He qualified for the regional choir his freshman year and now has an audition for the state choir.

Brianna is just busy with student leadership and with also starting violin lessons.

Gillie (our Scottie dog) has grown and is just the cutest thing... we all spoil her a lot.

Alan has been busy with school in McGill and all those cute little people out there. While the budget cuts are on everyone's mind we all try to just think positive and have fun with what we can.

I have been very busy with a staff Christmas dinner at our house, school concerts, cookie parties, and decorating... but I wouldn't trade any of it. I made all my brothers and sisters and my parents Grandma's fruitcake this year... yeah, I know what you're thinking... fruitcake? But this fruitcake is special. It's not like the gross kind in the grocery store--it's amazing. I could almost feel my Grandma with me while I was making it and even more so while I was eating some. I miss her a lot this time of year; all the candies and treats she always made for us, so my learning how to make this cake helps me feel like a part of her is still with me... maybe that's silly, but, it's true. I wish I could see my parents this Christmas but they decided to travel in their retirement and are in Arizona eating burritos. I hope they have tons of fun! Well, I'm going to try and post some pictures... so I'll get on again real soon. Until then, everyone have fun!
